Improving Health Through Education
About kakuma Health Network
Kakuma has only 6 hospitals and clinics that serve over 200,000 people. Despite the services being free at these medical institutions, there are many challenges facing the health sector in Kakuma. There is a limited amount of services and limited amount of drugs that are available. Moreover, there is a lack of equipment for basic testing such as salmonella. The hospitals are also crowded and there are not enough qualified doctors to attend to them. Also there are little communal services that can help. Youth are uneducated on reproductive health and there are many cases of early pregnancies. Kakuma Health Network is a team of doctors and pharmacists looking to provide education on living a sustainable, healthier life in the camp.
